UGANDA NATIONAL PEOPLES' RIGHTS ASSOCIATION

UNAPERA Establishment

UNAPERA was started in London on 26th March 2006. It is registered in Uganda as human rights, membership, non-partisan, non-profit-making, independent, civil society and global organization. Its Headquarters is in Kampala. It has Branches in Kampala, Mityana, Masaka, Mbale, Gulu, Canada and London. Its goal is to open Branches which will be for propagating its objectives all over the world.

 

UNAPERA Logo, Motto, Colours and Symbols

UNAPERA is the acronym of the Uganda National Peoples’ Rights Association.

“Rights Are Not Negotiable” is the UNAPERA Motto and universal fundamental principle of all individual and collective human rights for which UNAPERA stands for.

The Red colour symbolizes blood which all the human race shares, universal brotherhood and inalienable human rights endowed to all human kind.

The Black colour symbolizes Ugandans as a people of African continent with dignity and pride for being Africans.

The Green Colour symbolizes the vegetation, beauty and richness of Uganda. It also symbolises hope for Uganda.

The Blue colour symbolizes peace, harmony and hospitality of the peoples of Uganda in their state of nature.

White symbolizes sincerity which UNAPERA demands from all its Leaders, Members, Friends, Supporters and Enablers.

The Uganda map symbolizes love and patriotism of UNAPERA Members, Supporters, Enablers and Leaders towards Uganda as their motherland. It also symbolizes that UNAPERA is a Ugandan national organization which intends to bring together all Ugandans and their friends who wish to propagate what it stands for.

The four groups of people symbolize the national peoples (nationalities) and other kinds of peoples, populations and individual persons of Uganda whose collective rights, but not excluding individual rights, UNAPERA stands for.

The dove symbolizes peace for which Ugandans yearn for and for which UNAPERA stands for.

 

UNAPERA Launch

It was launched at Christ the King Hall in Kampala, Uganda, by the Chair of the Uganda Human Rights Commission, Mrs. Margaret Ssekajja, on 12th December 2007.

The UNAPERA Launch entourage included, to mention but a few, Hon. Dan Muliika – the UNAPERA Esteemed Peoples’ Rights Defender (EPRIDE); Hon. Joseph Balikuddembe – the UNAPERA Global Presiding Co-Chair (GPC); Professor Dan Nabudere; Fr. Masembe – the Head of Kampala Archdiocese Peace and Justice Department; Professor Jjuuko and Professor Barya from Makerere University; Hon. Godfrey Lule – former Buganda Attorney General; Mr. Godfrey Katamba – the UNAPERA Global Secretary and; Mr. Sulaiman Kiggundu (RIP) – the former Chair of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).
